In the Bible there is a wonderful story which teaches us how to fix disordered government with methods God has established.  A wicked woman, Athaliah, had stolen the throne of Judah and proclaimed herself queen over the realm.  For six years she reigned by oppression and terror.  But a faithful man of God, Jehoiada the priest, had hidden the true king, the young boy Jehoash, from the wicked queen.  We pick up the story recorded in 2 Kings 11,

Judge Roy Moore Demonstrates Interposition1“And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard…and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king’s son…And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, ‘God save the king’…And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD’S people; between the king also and the people.”

In this story we see God’s authority in one realm (the realm of the church) joining with those in lesser authority in civil government (that is, the army) to restore the rightful king to his throne. Continue reading

On February 9th, 2016, a group of Kentucky Legislators revealed the shenanigans of politics by politicians instead of government being operated by statesmen.  Senate Bill Christians-Stand Up in Government17 would have stopped Kentucky tax dollars from going to that dastardly organization which is misleadingly named “Planned Parenthood”Planned Parenthood probably commits more abortions across this nation that any other single organization which does abortions.  The bill to defund Kentucky’s Planned Parenthood was stuck in a House committee, so advocates presented what is called a procedural bill in order to bring SB 7 to the House floor for an “up or down” vote.  The vote to bring out SB 7 so it could be voted on went like this:

  • 47 voted for SB 7 to come to the House Floor for an up or down vote.
  • 10 voted against it coming to the Floor.
  • 39 did not vote at all!!

When no vote is cast at all in the Legislature that inaction is counted as a vote against the bill.  Continue reading

Some years back, I had a very revealing conversation with a Pastor. This good man, who believes and preaches the Bible to be the truth, had served as a school board member in his community for many years. Finally, he lost an election by one vote! I Christians Stand Up for Your Children - VOTEwonder how many good Christian people wished they had gone to the polls to vote in that election, instead of doing something they thought was more important! They counted on others to protect their children by re-electing him, while others counted on them! Every election in America sees 3/4 of the people who say they are committed to the Bible not show up at the polls to vote. Evangelicals could easily elect Biblically thinking people if they would vote for the Biblical values they say they believe. They could even elect a third party candidate—If they would register to vote and vote for Biblical values! The people of God who do not vote are responsible for the devastating slide of our nation toward dictatorship.

James A. Garfield, our 20th President, warned us in 1876,

“If the next centennial does not find us a great nation…it will be because those who represent…the morality of the nation (i.e., the Church) do not aid in controlling the political forces.” Continue reading
