The Immigration Fix, Part 4 1The Debate continues over illegal immigration.  The socialists in Congress, and their supporters, don’t want a wall.  The reasons they put out front is that it’s unfair to deny needy people entrance to our nation; and a wall won’t work anyway.  But are those the real reasons they want open borders?  Consider their arguments just mentioned:  If we’re going to admit people just because they are needy, then the whole world will be standing at our door.  Few nations on earth have anything like the lifestyle Americans enjoy.  Most of the world is needy compared to this nation!

Their talk that, “a Wall won’t work” is just that—TALK!  A recent example of how well a Wall does work to keep out illegals is the nation of Israel.  David Rubin, the former Mayor of the city of Shiloh in Israel, told Fox News that,

“…from 2010 to 2012, some 55,000 illegal immigrants came…through Egypt into Israel.  In a tiny nation like Israel, he said, ‘that’s a lot,’ [and] the result was that crime rocketed…where they settled…Israeli officials finally agreed to build [a] wall…and in 2016, there were only 11 illegal immigrants who entered Israel through that route…A year after…the Israeli government made security improvements to the wall and increased its height…and now, Rubin contends that the wall is virtually impenetrable by illegal immigrants…‘[T]here was not [one] illegal immigrant that made it through the southern border – not one,’ Rubin [said], referring to last year.”

Who were the thinkers behind the American Revolution which would give birth to the greatest Republic the world had ever seen?  Actually, men like Washington, Jefferson, or even Samuel Adams, were not the “root” thinkers of that Revolution.  You may be surprised, but the truth is:  It was the Pastors who inspired the thinking that brought about the American Revolution.  They taught it in the churches!  The Provincial Congress of Massachusetts stated in 1774:

“…we cannot but acknowledge the goodness of Heaven in constantly supplying us with preachers of the Gospel whose concern has been the temporal and spiritual happiness of this people…and do therefore recommend…that they assist us in avoiding that dreadful slavery with which we are now threatened…”

(Christian History of the American Revolution, V. Hall (F.A.C.E. pub.), p.402)

The inspiration for the Battle of Lexington and Concord, which began the Revolutionary War, was none other than Jonas Clark, Pastor of the Church in Lexington for twenty years before the Revolution.  It was Continue reading

The immigration issue in America looms as a very real dividing line for the population of this nation.  Many scream at each other across that line as if their view is the final authority on the issue.  We ought not be surprised at this, since we are allowing our children to be taught through the media, the curriculum, and the education method we use, to think they establish their own “morality” since there are no absolutes.  So where do we look for the truth concerning immigration into a nation?  We must look to the source of all truth:  The Bible.  God is not silent concerning nation building; of which immigration is a part.  Let’s look at what He says.

First, that God gives to nations boundaries is plain from the boundaries HE gives to nations.  Acts 17:26 states:

“And [God] hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined…the [boundaries] of their habitation;”

Thus, the people of a nation, through their Representatives in their government have the right to establish a Biblically based method for immigrants to come to their country and become citizens.  This necessarily means that they have the right to keep out of their country those who are not willing to meet the qualifications to enter and live there.  The fact that we’ve not required each citizen born here to meet the agreement that immigrants have to meet is the root of why we can’t find solutions to our current immigration problem.  The real issue is the Biblical concept of covenant, which means “the meeting of minds”.

Secondly, God wants nations to be willing to receive others who ARE willing to meet the requirements of that nation’s covenant.  This is Continue reading

Few things have caused as much controversy in American politics as the President’s effort to build a wall along our southwestern border.  Some claim the idea is contrary to the message proclaimed by our Statue of Liberty:  “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”  But are they right?  How can America be a refuge for the hurting of the world if we do not maintain the liberty which makes this nation their hope?  How can we help them if we let in people whose ideas are diametrically opposed to the Biblically-based ideas which made America the freest, most prosperous nation on earth?

Some would say, “Does that mean only Biblically thinking people can come here?  How can they ever learn our ideas if they aren’t here, where they can learn them?”  We’re not the first generation of Americans to face that issue.  In the founding of America it was decided who could be a citizen here and who couldn’t be.  The basic concept was Continue reading

The media is in an uproar over President Trump’s desire to build a wall on the Mexican border to stop illegal immigration there.  Not that the media being in an uproar against what’s right is anything new.  But many are questioning if his desire to stop illegal immigration is right.  Like most things that socialistic thinking gets wrong, they’re wrong on this too.  They say a “Wall” won’t work.  If they really believe that, why do most of their leaders live in “gated communities”?  Think About It.

Because a nation can only be as strong as it is within its own borders, you can’t help other nations in the world until you are strong at home.  Those who expect America to take care of the world either are uninformed as to how God teaches us to help others, or they reject the Bible as their standard for such benevolence.  Just as the Bible says that “Jesus began to do and teach,” so we cannot share with the world what we are not ourselves.  “Doing” always precedes “teaching”.  A tree cannot extend its branches any farther than its root system equals underground, or the whole tree will topple.  American strength has been flowing away for years because we’ve tried to join the world “globalism” movement and compromised so many of our historic convictions in order to be “part of the crowd”.  One of the major principles of “globalism” is that there can be no borders between nations (On that thought, wonder how they expect to Continue reading

Ladies and gentlemen, the following story is why we have Christmas:

The Christmas Story1 “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away [privately]. But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for…he…shall save his people from their sins.’ Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, ‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.’ And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took unto him his wife; and knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name JESUS.” Continue reading

So often, at this time of year, we sing Christmas carols in our churches or at family gatherings.  Some have melodies which raise our emotions to the heights.  Others woo us into quiet meditations on the deep meaning of Jesus’ entry into this world and what His invasion into human flesh really means to us.  But the carol that does both those things for me—is Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.  Written by the great song-writing revivalist, Charles Wesley, the revelation in this hymn of what Christ did for us is astounding!  Take a journey with me as we attempt to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us what Jesus did for us.  Wesley wrote:

Hark!  The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild– God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations, rise, join the triumph of the skies;
With the angelic hosts proclaim, “Christ is born in Bethlehem.”
Hark!  The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King!”

Christ, by highest heav’n adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord:
Late in time behold Him come, Offspring of a virgin’s womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, Hail the incarnate Deity!
Pleased as man with man to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.
Hark!  The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King!”

This time of year there’s a lot of reference to the Baby Jesus in the manger.  That’s a good thing.  We think of the Christ child and hope comes to us that God literally invaded history and brought hope that there could be “peace on earth toward men of good will” (Luke 2:14).

And yet, for all this good feeling surrounding the Baby Jesus, few ever think beyond the manger.  And even of those who do think of His important life, death, and resurrection, even fewer ever come to understand His impact on all civilization; and particularly here in the western hemisphere.  Jesus was the most important Lawgiver in world history.  His influence over moral and civil law in this world makes Him, without question, the most influential person in all of history.  Yet, few law schools in America ever acknowledge His powerful impact at all.

Jesus’ birth came at a time when Continue reading

There are three positions Christians are taking in the current pressure.  Some are saying, “It’s so bad now.  Persecution is growing.  These are just the last moments of time, and I’m just looking for Jesus to come back any day.”  Which translates into:  “I don’t believe we can do anything about this time, so I’m just thinking about me and I’m going to hide my head in the sand.  Don’t count on me to protect the liberty of my children.”  On the other hand, there are those who would love to see liberty preserved, they just think that there’s no hope now.  But then there’s a third group—perhaps fewer in number—but those who thrill the heart of God.  They’re saying, “This is the hardest time the world has ever seen, and it may be the beginning of the end of history; but come what may, until ‘the trumpet sounds’, I’m going to do everything I can to preserve the liberty of my children to be able to hear and respond to the Gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ!”

Which group are you in?  “…What can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) in this pressurized time?

The Pilgrims - Overcoming the Hard Times 1Forefathers Monument, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, is dedicated to the memory of the Pilgrims:  Specifically to the memory of, “…their labors, sufferings, and sacrifices in the cause of civil and religious liberty.”  One of the five statues which make up Forefathers Monument is Morality.  This statue reveals the Pilgrims desire to live conforming their actions to the Bible.  They demonstrated how Christ could live His life through us if we were surrendered to Him as a living Master.  And that was true in hard times as well as good times.  Their story shows us this reality—even in the most difficult circumstances.

When they came together in a church covenant in 1605 to: “…walk together in all His ways…whatsoever it should cost them…” (Bradford, William. Of Plimoth Plantation), it would cost them dearly.  Several times over the next three years, English deputies would burst into their worship meetings, hauling the men off to jail; fining them and keeping them locked up for thirty days.  This cost them financially because they were unable to work their farms during those times.

When they moved to Holland in order to have the religious freedom to teach their children the ways of Christ, they were Continue reading
