Threatened by a powerful enemy, King Hezekiah of Judah did what any ruler should do:  He first sought the face of God, crying out to Him for deliverance.  Hezekiah prayed,

When Other Nations Threaten 1

“…O LORD God of Israel…thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth…open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib…[which] reproach the living God…O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.” (2 Kings 19:15-19)

And God sent an angel who killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night!

With the ongoing threats by the North Korean dictator of attacking America with a nuclear warhead, our first response should be the same.  We should pray, asking God to intervene and preserve peace.  Many, many believers here, and around the world, are doing just that.

The Bible tells the story of Nehemiah, the civil leader who rebuilt Jerusalem after the Jews had been captive many years in Persia.  In a time when the enemies of God had been trying to discourage the Jews from finishing the work God had called them to, Nehemiah exhorted them:

The last thing Jesus said to His followers was,

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Let’s pick up from the book Why God Birthed America what happened.  I quote:

“Over the next three hundred years, they became carriers of Jesus to others all over the world (2 Corinthians 6:16b).  So much so that it’s estimated that before the fifth century, half the known world had heard of Jesus.  Multiplied thousands were becoming what God had created them to be—a channel of His life.  The impact of this release of Christ’s life through believers affected every part of the culture.

Man’s Hope—Being God’s Earthsuit (Part 2) 1“The fraudulent Roman courts began to be replaced by a Christian court system, the decisions of which people voluntarily accepted because it was so much more just than the Roman courts.  Justice reigned among believers, which brought order to their subculture, in stark contrast to the growing anarchy in Roman society.

“Some Christians began to advance even in the government.  Their attitude that they were the people’s servants, instead of their masters, cast a new standard for government service.  A few were Continue reading
