Everything from parental disrespect, to chaos in the schools, to mass shootings, can be laid at the feet of one missing truth in our society:  Accountability to God, our Creator.  And yet, I seldom hear a sermon from the passages in the Bible which teach that we will face God as our Judge of what we’ve done with this life.  Yet the Bible is so clear about it!

The final judgment, the one for those who haven’t surrendered to Christ as their Master, is found in the book of Revelation, chapter twenty.  It tells us:

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away…And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works…And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11-15)

God is going to open “the books” (Rev. 20:12); that is, the Books of the Bible; and He is going to reason with every single lost person about why they should have surrendered their lives to Christ, until they bow their knee and say, “Yes, you were Continue reading

Mass shootings seem to be escalating.  And while the political pundits always try to pin the blame on their political enemies, the truth is the numbers of shootings have been increasing no matter which political party is in power.  The news media, psychiatrists, and talk show hosts, have tried to answer the question, “Why do tragedies like this occur?”  And, as usual, most of them aren’t even close to the right answer.  But there is a simple, “root” reason for things like this occurring; and it’s found only in the Bible.

The Bible explains that because of our refusal to allow the life of God to enter us in the Garden of Eden, so we could be a channel of the life of God in this earth, we received a “sin principle”.  That is, a root of sin that colors the thinking of all who do not walk with Christ.  It produces the attitude:  “I want what I want when I want it.”  This causes a man to lash out at others when he doesn’t get what he wants, when he wants it.  This attitude is the foundation of all the political philosophies in the world—except God’s original plan for government revealed in the Bible.

It becomes obvious, contrary to the way the secular media tries to spin it, that the root thinking of mass killers is Continue reading

Our Founding Fathers- Christian 1

Sometime back, there was a letter to the editor of one of our newspapers in this region, which sadly expressed the lack of understanding of some people in our land.  This man began by saying, “Our state is under the spell of a myth, the myth of a Christian nation.”  He goes on to assert that most of our leading Founding Fathers were deists.  In particular he names Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and George Washington.  He then goes on to define deism:  “Deism is a way of looking at the world and believing there’s a god who created it, but then left things alone (i.e., no miracles, no son of god, no divine intervention).”

I fear this man represents some in America who simply misrepresent the facts about our Founders, either by ignorance or design.  Why don’t we do a novel thing?  Let’s let the Founders speak for themselves!  Wouldn’t that be a different approach to education?

As to Kentucky being under the “myth” that we are a Christian nation:  The Patriot, Patrick Henry, let Continue reading
