A hush fell over everyone on this beautiful October day in 1621. The waves could be heard gently lapping against the shore in Plymouth Bay. The first group of Englishmen to inhabit New England bow their heads as their elected Governor leads them in a prayer to God through Jesus Christ. He expresses their thanks to God for all the protection and provision He has granted them over the last year. Indeed, they were thankful! They were thankful for the liberty to bow their heads in public and pray to God without the fear of being fined or imprisoned. They had experienced both. For years in England—their homeland—they had been forced to hide in order to worship as they believed they should. These “Separatists”, as they were called, believed only God had the right to tell a person how He should be worshiped. The King and established Church leaders thought differently. The Separatists believed only the Bible could reveal how a person could know God and they wanted the liberty to practice it as it was written. On October 31st, a lot of people in this land will celebrate Halloween.  Though begun as a day to remember many Godly people and the truth they gave to the world, it has degenerated into becoming the high day of satanism throughout the world.  Hideous acts of worship to satan will be done on this night.  The occult will have its greatest celebration on this night.  But it was not always so in America.

Up until the mid-1800s, America celebrated a different day on October 31st.  It was known as Reformation Day; and it reminded Americans of the great price that was paid for the “liberty of conscience”.  It was a celebration of the liberty brought to the personal life and the life of the nation as a result of men laying down their lives to stand with the truth of the Bible.

Columbus Defended 1“In 1492, Columbus sailed the Ocean blue.”  Thus, children in America learned the little rhyme which firmly fixed in our minds who was responsible for the American continents being discovered.  The last two generations haven’t learned that because some in what is called “higher education” circles didn’t want us to know who Columbus was.  Many in those circles came to be ashamed of Columbus’ God because they were convicted by the mentioning of the Name of Jesus.  Since Columbus was a devout man and often mentioned God and Jesus Christ, they tried to remove him from our history.  Now that war against his name has reached new heights.

A statue of Columbus in Binghamton, New York, had the word “murderer” painted on it.  In New York City, Columbus’ statue in Central Park was vandalized.  The New York City mayor’s, answer to that was to appoint a commission to consider which historical monuments should be removed!

Pastor Jonas Clark stood on Lexington Green on the steps of his church building on April 19th, 1775, watching 600 British troops file onto the grassy area.  He had taught his people for twenty years the Biblical principles of why and how to defend civil liberty.  He did this because he knew the Bible taught that civil government was God’s institution just like the home and the church were God’s institutions.  He stood there that day and watched nine of his men die on that field.  They died because they stood and took the first volley.  They had learned from their Pastor that only defensive war is just.  For God to fight with them, they must not fire the first shot.  They didn’t.  God honored their sacrifice; the British, though a vastly superior force, were routed that day by the Colonial forces.  A “shot was heard round the world” about how you defend civil liberty God’s way!

The many educational elitists in our land would have us believe that our Founding Fathers were people who had no faith in God; or, at best, were skeptics.  They often point to Ben Franklin as proof of that, quoting some wrong things that Franklin said in his early life.  However, they will almost never quote from his speech at the Constitutional Convention in May of 1787 when he was eighty-one years of age.  But I want to quote, at length, from his speech that most surely saved that Convention from breaking up from selfish interests, and thus brought about the writing of our Constitution; which has produced the greatest amount of liberty for the greatest number of people in all of world history.  Consider Franklin’s faith in God when he stated:

The time had finally come. After twenty years of growing government interference into the affairs of the American Colonies, the patience of Americans was exhausted. The Representatives of America had appealed to their British King and the Parliament over and over during those twenty years, and had only been insulted for their efforts. Over and over the King had treated their appeals with disdain. Finally, Thomas Jefferson would sum up the attitude of the majority of Americans when he wrote in The Declaration of Independence,

“A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”

The final break with England began on March 16, 1776. The Continental Congress, representing each of the thirteen colonies, called upon the American people to observe a day “of fasting, humiliation, and prayer”. The Congress stated Continue reading →

Ladies and Gentlemen, we continue to see the crucifixion of Jesus as written in the book, Why God Birthed America:

It has been said of Patrick, the great missionary to Ireland during the 400s, he “found Ireland all heathen and left it all Christian.”  And while, no doubt, that statement is not completely true; it, no doubt, has much truth in it.  Because Patrick was used of God powerfully in converting the Irish to Christ and helping them structure their government so that it would protect for centuries the right to share the Gospel of Christ with the next generation.  Patrick’s understanding and submission to God brought tremendous power from the Holy Spirit to his life.  You hear his understanding of God, and this world God created and controls, in what is known as Patrick’s Breastplate:  Hear the power of God in it!  He states:

“I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through the belief in the threeness,
Through the confession of the oneness
Of the Creator of Creation

March 17th is set aside each year to remember a man who lived in Ireland in the 400s. His life would not only lead thousands of the Irish out of satanism to Jesus Christ as their Lord; his Biblical teaching concerning government would literally lay the foundation for liberty in America.

Patrick of Ireland was actually born in England, but at sixteen years of age was captured and taken to Ireland to be a slave. While many in our day would blame God as being unfair if that happened to them, Patrick did just the opposite. He recognized that the heathen living of him and his neighbors had brought him this captivity. He described their state as being,

“…quite drawn away from God, we did not keep His precepts…”
