Except for one thing, the state of our land could be very discouraging. If we look only at the Moslem threat, the homosexual agenda, or the work of socialists inside our governments, we could well be in despair. However, if any person or people set their will to walk in the order of God, they have proven to be invincible under any circumstances. It is my hope, that if we can experience revival, we would need not fear any enemy, internal or external.

The Bible teaches that one with God is always a majority. Moses stood at the Red Sea without a single earthly hope of being delivered from Pharaoh’s fast approaching army. But because he was obeying God in bringing out His people from bondage, God said through Moses,

“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD…” (Exodus 14:13)

Moses obeyed, and, to his amazement, he watched God’s people get delivered from the greatest army on earth. God still does this today.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following story is why we have Christmas:

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away [privately]. But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. In 1857-58 God came in revival in this nation in a remarkable way. A businessman named Jeremiah Lanphier started a noonday prayer meeting in New York City. Within a month, hundreds were praying at noon and it began to spread across the region. Some prayer meetings at noon sprang up without knowing of the New York prayer meetings. God began to move across the nation bringing hope to many who had become hopeless. The church had become so weak it couldn’t even decide if slavery was right or wrong. And whenever the Church leaves the Scripture as its standard society always goes downhill. We can always tell the strength of the Church by how much its influence controls the institutions of education, business, and civil government. Jesus said,

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” (Matthew 5:14)

On June 6, 1944 the beginning of the end for the satanic Nazi regime was ignited on the Normandy beaches in France. An Allied force of three million men, over 5,000 ships, and 11,000 planes crossed the choppy waters and attacked the Nazi strongholds in the cliffs of Normandy. Never, in the history of man, had such a force been amassed to attack an enemy. Even so, it would not be easy. More than 54,000 of those troops would die in that invasion. Another 155,000 plus would have the rest of their lives altered from wounds incurred in those hours of the invasion. But victory was achieved! This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is the price of liberty!

General Dwight Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of this joint force, wrote a letter which was read to the troops stirring them to trust God to help them achieve this victory. It read, in part, as follows:

“You are about to embark on the great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you…you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

“…let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.”

For Memorial Day, a restaurant in our town displayed a message on their marque that read:

“‘Thank you’ to those who never came home.”

Why do we remember our fallen military heroes? This was the original purpose for Memorial Day when it was begun during the War Between the States. We remember for two reasons: One, God tells us to remember our past as a nation, so we will see His Providential Hand in it; and thus, He will become more real to us. When we remember His work in the past, it aids our faith in believing Him for miracles now. The Bible commands us to remember our history. It states,

“Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will show thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.” (Deuteronomy 32:7)

America is in a difficult time.  But all national difficulties are designed to help us (or “force” us) to seek God.  We simply must face something we don’t like to face:  As the Bible says it:

“…whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)

We are reaping the judgment of God because of our many idols:  The worst being the god of immorality and our sacrifice to it—the murder of our own children by abortion.  God warned the nation of Israel that one of the judgments He would send would be “pestilence” (Jeremiah 29:17).  This virus is one of those “pestilences”.  As Founding Father, George Mason, warned us at the Constitutional Convention:

“…Providence [(God)] punishes national sins with national calamities.”

But God’s aim is redemptive:  He just wants us to quit “buzzing” and listen to Him!

So I want to encourage you with some of the promises which God gives to us in the Bible.  These promises are made to a specific group of people which the Bible calls “The Remnant”.  While the phrase, “The Remnant”, has specific references to the Jews, it also is a reference to a specific group of true believers in Christ.  This is how I’m referring to it today.  The “Remnant” is not made up of your average church-goer, and certainly does not include those of religions outside of Christianity.  Neither does it include those who nominally believe that Jesus is God’s Son.  It doesn’t Continue reading →
