Never have we seen a time in America that was so morally debased. The homosexual agenda is bent on erasing every vestige of Christianity from our culture. Their socialist ideas permeate the media and the tax-supported education institutions throughout the land. Is there any hope of a return to moral sanity? Yes, there is! But it can only come in a heaven-sent, Christ-honoring revival in our personal, family, church, and national lives. God’s promise is plain:

Hope From Past Revivals1“If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

(2 Chronicles 7:14)

If we as Christians will “turn” (not just talk) God will send revival. And revival always restores Biblical morality. God has done this in our past in America. He wants to do it again!

In 1798, the Presbyterian General Assembly summed up Continue reading

It Can Happen Again1In 1857-58 God came in revival in this nation in a remarkable way. A businessman named Jeremiah Lanphier started a noonday prayer meeting in New York City. Within a month, hundreds were praying at noon and it began to spread across the region. Some prayer meetings at noon sprang up without knowing of the New York prayer meetings. God began to move across the nation bringing hope to many who had become hopeless. The church had become so weak it couldn’t even decide if slavery was right or wrong. And whenever the Church leaves the Scripture as its standard society always goes downhill. We can always tell the strength of the Church by how much its influence controls the institutions of education, business, and civil government. Jesus said,

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” (Matthew 5:14)

If the church boldly, in the love of Christ, proclaims what the Bible says about every area of life men will turn to Christ and be born again. As they “grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus” society will be shaped by Biblical standards. But Jesus also said Continue reading

The last time America had a move of God that was nationwide was over 150 years ago. Since that time the growing darkness of secularism, founded in Americans gradually believing the lie that we are god—and that the life that has our name attached to it is ours—has brought more and more darkness to us. It definitely looks like we are going to destroy ourselves.

America's Most Recent National Revival1Is there any hope for our nation? There definitely is! And His Name is Jesus Christ! But we will never make our nation a candidate for His deliverance until we, as a majority of individuals in this land, surrender these lives completely to Him. That would bring the awareness of His Presence to us in such a real way that we could hear His voice again. That would let us work with Him in the revival he wants to give to us. Perhaps you’re thinking, “That can’t happen in these last days”, or “Wrong is too much in control, we can’t turn it back now.” These are favorite statements of the spirit of unbelief that walks this land. But neither the “last days” nor the growing darkness can keep the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, from doing anything here that He chooses. These “defeatist” arguments do not, in anyway, cancel out the promises of God, like Continue reading

While this is the darkest time in our nation’s history, the light is beginning to rise. I consistently meet people who are praying with others for revival in this land, and who assure me they are also praying in their own “prayer closet” for revival. This is encouraging because, as one great man of God stated it:

“When God intends great mercy for His people, the first thing He does is set them a-praying.”

(Matthew Henry, as quoted by Miles Bennet at http://www.liftupusa.com/pquotes.htm)

Prayer-The First Step Toward Revival1After many years in the ministry, it seems to me that the greatest “grace-ometer” (as C.H. Spurgeon said it) of the church is its prayer meeting. You can tell what God is up to in a church by how many people are fervently praying for Him to settle among them and do whatever He wants to do.

So, with the growing darkness in our land, how should we be praying? While it would be usurping the Holy Spirit’s leadership to, in detail, tell someone how to pray about a specific thing, there is Continue reading

Mr. Obama is at it again. Using the several attacks by gunmen across the nation last More Gun Control by Obama1year as his reason, he is reportedly about to issue an executive order which would further strip from us our right to have weapons to defend ourselves. Aside from the fact he is violating the Constitution by issuing executive orders to do what only our Congress would have the power to do (and that only if the people approved an amendment against guns which the Congress had drafted) Mr. Obama is disagreeing with the Bible in trying to disarm the citizens of this nation. Secondly, he is disagreeing with our Founding Fathers on whether we have the right to bear arms as citizens. And thirdly, he is siding with dictators like Adolf Hitler, when he works to disarm us.

So what does the Bible say about the right to defend one’s body against an attacker? On the night Jesus was arrested, He told his disciples, Continue reading

Covenant-The Foundation of the Declaration1Why can’t we fix the immigration problem in America? Why can’t we teach the Bible in our schools anymore? Why do we keep losing jobs to foreign countries? Believe it or not, these great issues in America all root in the same problem. That problem is: We no longer understand the Biblical concept of covenant.

The word “covenant”, as defined in America’s first dictionary (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary of the American Language), means “the meeting of minds.” Covenant means that two or more people think enough alike to be able to enter into a binding agreement to walk together to accomplish a certain task. Admittedly, this is not an easy thing to do. Because of our sin in the Garden of Eden we think our own thoughts and generally do not want anyone else to challenge that thinking. The Bible shows the ultimate result of our refusal to submit to the life of God is that:

“…everyone [does] what [is] right in his own eyes.”

(Judges 21:25)

Since the root of sin in each of us insists on its own way, we cannot Continue reading

Ladies and gentlemen, the following story is why we have Christmas:

The Christmas Story1 “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away [privately]. But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for…he… shall save his people from their sins.’ Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, ‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.’  And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took unto him his wife; and knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name JESUS.” Continue reading

At the Christmas season, a lot of emphasis is given to a lot of things other than the One the season is all about—JESUS! In the next two messages we hope to tell His story! It all started like this:

The Promise of Deliverance1“There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abijah: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments…of the Lord blameless. And they had no child, because…Elizabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God…he went into the temple of the Lord…And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord… And when Zacharias saw him…fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, ‘Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John…For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord…and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God…’ And after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived… Continue reading

Matt Bevin, the new Governor of Kentucky, kicked off his Administration in a very refreshing way. A church service, initially planned for the Buck Run Baptist Church, had to be moved to the Frankfort Convention center because of the size of the crowd. In that meeting several Bible-believing Pastors spoke and led in prayers for the new Governor, his family, and his Administration. Herschel York, Pastor at Buck Run, stated that Bevin is:

A Good Beginning1“…the governor of people of all faiths, or no faith, but he is unquestionably, openly, [by confession] a man of deep faith, specifically a faith in Jesus Christ.”

To have Jesus’ Name openly acknowledged and owned by a Governor in these United States is wonderfully refreshing! Bevin’s Pastor Emeritus, Bob Russell, stated,

“I want us to pray that God would grant [him] wisdom every day, to make daily choices from the vantage point of God.”

Russell said the wisdom Bevin needs to lead Kentucky comes from meditating on God’s Word, drawing from experience, choosing wise Continue reading

A hush fell over everyone on this beautiful October day in 1621. The waves could be heard gently lapping against the shore in Plymouth Bay. The first group of Englishmen to inhabit New England bow their heads as their elected Governor leads them in a prayer to God through Jesus Christ. He expresses their thanks to God for all the The Pilgrim Thanksgiving1protection and provision He has granted them over the last year. Indeed, they were thankful! They were thankful for the liberty to bow their heads in public and pray to God without the fear of being fined or imprisoned. They had experienced both. For years in England — their homeland — they had been forced to hide in order to worship as they believed they should. These “Separatists”, as they were called, believed only God had the right to tell a person how He should be worshiped. The King and established Church leaders thought differently. The Separatists believed only the Bible could reveal how a person could know God and they wanted the liberty to practice it as it was written. In time, they chose to give up their homeland and flee to Holland in order to have Continue reading
