Revival-The Foundation of America 1Why did early Americans respect the Bible so much?  Why did our Founding Fathers who wrote our Founding documents reason from Biblical principles?  Why did they insist that their education and governmental systems be the means of communicating the truth to the next generation?

To really understand how they thought we must consider the time in which they were born.  Most all of them were born in the midst of an amazing work which came to be called the “Great Awakening”.  It was a time of revival that brought the Pilgrims’ descendants back to the faith of those original settlers in Plymouth.  It started in 1734 in the little village of western Massachusetts called Northampton.  The Pastor of the church there, Jonathan Edwards, described it in his own words in Continue reading

Recently one of the churches in our community held a special meeting on Flag Day, June 14th.  They honored the United States Flag, “…the Republic for which it stands…”, and the soldiers who have defended that Republic.  Our original Continental Congress approved the basic design of our Flag on June 14th, 1777, which is why the day has been set aside as a day to honor our Flag.

I remember being taught the importance of our Flag as a child by my Dad and Mom.  Dad was a World War II veteran and had a great love for our country.  The public school I attended likewise taught us respect for country and the Flag which represents it.  We saluted the Flag and pledged allegiance to it every morning.  This is rarely done now as the emphasis through the education system is on nations coming together in a one-world government.  We were taught the Biblical understanding that:

“God hath made of one blood all nations of men…and appointed…the boundaries of their habitation.” (Acts17:26, emphasis added)

Now most children don’t even know the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.  Let’s carefully consider this pledge in an effort to Continue reading

The most dangerous piece of legislation to ever come out of the U.S. House of Representatives is now in the U.S. Senate awaiting a hearing.  It is falsely named The Equality Act, but should be named The Religious Liberty and Free Speech Death Act!!  It has been pushed as the expansion of civil rights, identifying with the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  But expansion means including sexual orientation and gender identity as a civil right.  The practical implications are devastating!

It would mean churches and Christian schools could be forced by the Courts to hire sodomites and so-called “transgenders” as staff workers.  This would mean they could teach a compromised message which they would claim was in the Bible.  They might even try to cast Jesus as a homosexual.  What would that do for your children and grandchildren?  Those who teach the Bible as absolute truth could Continue reading

Whenever I’ve been in New England studying America’s history, I’ve always been awe-struck by the many monuments and markers in that region which told of our past.  Our beginnings there speak to us in a great way concerning our Biblical roots.  Everywhere I turned there were references to the work of Jesus Christ in the lives of our ancestors.  Why did our forefathers place these monuments there?  Why are their words so specific in their instruction to us?

For example, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where the Pilgrims first landed, there is a large stone placed over the spot where they buried half their number that first winter.  On the back of that stone are printed some words we definitely need to know.  They Continue reading

It was December, 1777.  George Washington’s army filed silently into their winter camp at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.  Washington would tell of the amazing commitment of these men by reporting how you could trace their path by the bloody tracks they were leaving.  A great many of the 11,000 were barefooted; many were nearly naked in this freezing cold.  More than 2,000 would die that winter from lack of food and shelter.  Yet the miracle was—they didn’t leave.  Why?

While it won’t be revealed completely until we stand before the Lord at the Judgment, at least one reason is the praying that George Washington did that winter.  There were different reports by people who said they came unexpectedly upon Washington kneeling in the snow in the woods, earnestly pleading with God for the cause of his nation.  While Washington was a very private person, and not at all given to showy religion, people close to him reported of his consistent devotions to God.  No doubt the last words his mother said to him before he left home to embark on his military career had greatly impacted him.  Mary Washington had Continue reading

When God created Israel’s civil government, He commanded Moses:

“…thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers…” (Exodus 18:21)

Thus, God gives us His qualifications for government servants.  I believe Kentucky Governor, Matt Bevin, has fulfilled these qualifications better than any governor in my lifetime of sixty-nine years.  While certainly not a perfect man, he’s done remarkably well at fulfilling this command.  Only the socialists who hate him scream otherwise:  As if they could put forth a perfect man.

Governor Bevin has proven himself to be an “able” man:  Leading the Kentucky Legislature to draft and pass some eight Pro-Life bills.  No other Kentucky Governor since abortion was “legalized” has Continue reading

Recently three different Pastors told me of disgraceful incidents in which Kentucky Governor, Matt Bevin, had difficulty in speaking to a group because of “hecklers” in the crowd he was addressing.  In one of those incidents, the media reported the Governor just had to leave the stage without being able to say hardly anything.  Another Pastor told me he was saddened and embarrassed by people in his community whose language toward the Governor was certainly not civil, let alone Christian.  But the third experience was almost beyond belief.  At a Pro-Life rally in Frankfort, Kentucky’s Capitol, again there were “hecklers” who rudely spoke up to interrupt the Governor’s remarks.  These “hecklers”, who claimed to be representing the teachers of Kentucky concerning the pension plan crisis here, were asked later why they would interrupt such a solemn gathering, the aim of which was to save children from being murdered in their mother’s womb.  Their weak answer was that they didn’t know it was a Pro-Life rally.  Yet, there were banners and signs all around which made it plain to everyone what this gathering was.  This is simply uncivilized behavior in the civil realm!  I’m only glad to say I do not believe that this kind of behavior is approved of by most of the teachers in this state.

We should have very strong feelings concerning political issues; because they Continue reading

Recently, students in an Oklahoma High School walked out in protest to school administrators because—school was too difficult?  No!  Because male students were being given free access to girls’ bathrooms!  This was being allowed because these boys were “confused” about their gender.  Many pleas by students and parents to school administrators had gone unheeded.  So, the students decided to take matters into their own hands, in the hopes it would get enough press coverage to expose this ridiculous policy!  On that thought:  If “unconfused” students would ban together, walk out of the classrooms, and steadfastly refused to go back until girls’ bathrooms were completely closed to males, guess what would happen?  Do not school districts have to have students present to collect the tax funding from their state?  If half the students were continually absent, guess what school boards would do?  They would find a way to protect girls in their bathrooms!  Money talks with a loud voice in most all school districts.  Think About It!

But is the effort to protect what is mistakenly called “transgenderism” what this battle is really about?  Absolutely not!  That’s the new color satan has Continue reading

On April 19th, 1775, seventy-five American farmers faced an overwhelming force of some 600 British professional soldiers.  The Americans were out-manned, out-gunned, and out-trained.  And when the first shots were fired, nine of the Americans fell dead.  Why were they willing to face such overwhelming odds?  Were they dreamers?  Were they crazy?  Were they men of such noble ideas that they were willing to die for them?  While they were all these things (except crazy), they had an even greater reason for resisting the King of England.  They believed they were obeying the God of the Bible with their resistance.  Their Congress had stated:

“Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian…duty of each individual…Continue steadfast, and with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly…defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us.”

(Massachusetts Provincial Congress. 1774, in a resolution. George Bancroft, Bancroft’s History of the United States, Vol. X (Boston: Charles C. Little & James Brown, 3rd Edition, 1838), Vol. VII, p. 229 | Peter Marshall and David Manuel, The Glory of America (Bloomington, MN: Garborg’s Heart’N Home, Inc., 1991), 8.31.)

When our ancestors defended themselves on Lexington Green, and later much more successfully at Concord Bridge, they believed they were walking in a principle of liberty taught in the Bible.

When God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden, he told him to “keep it”; that is, to Continue reading

The Epic Battle - Part 7 1Why did the Roman soldier beneath Jesus’ Cross feel afraid to face God at the Judgment?  He may, just then, have realized the repentant thief had the answer.  “We, indeed, suffer justly.”  That was it:  We’re wrong!  Doing things the way we want was not right after all!  It was our Creator’s right to tell us—His creation—how to live.  After all, only then would we know how to fulfill His purpose for us.  We were guilty of “insubordination”!  This a soldier could understand.

By now it was noon, and a strange thing begins to happen.  The sky begins to darken with an eerie blackness.  For a few brief moments, the air was so still it seemed to choke you as the darkness deepened.  Then the earth began to tremble.  Lightning bolts were exploding against the ground.

Then, unexpectedly, the voice of Jesus pierces the darkness.  In a loud, wrenching voice Jesus cries out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46, emphasis added)

The level of emotional pain expressed by this outcry was Continue reading
