As God raised up Queen Esther for “such a time as this,” you and I, as the people of God are here now for “such a time as this.” If we will go to the polls and vote Biblical standards today, Barack Obama and his socialist regime will be removed from office. The last election for President was decided by less than 10 million votes: But, 75 million people who say they’re born again did not even go to the polls and vote! Mr. Obama was elected because the church slept! May we not give away our liberty to his socialist policies. God help us value the liberty to share the Gospel of Christ with the next generation enough to vote against Barack Obama’s socialist government.
But the “battle is not to the strong” alone, as Patrick Henry said, it is to those who fall on their knees, humbling themselves before God and asking Him to deliver us from what we deserve; in other words, the loss of our liberties. The battle will be won or lost in prayer. Please, let me urge you with everything that’s in me: pray throughout this day! God gave me a word about two months ago which we can pray and know we’re praying His will. It’s found in 1 Chronicles 16:35:
“Save us oh God of our salvation. Gather us together and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to Thy holy name, and glory in Thy praise.”
Please pray this with me at many different times through the course of the day!
To sum up:
Go vote (“our solemn vow to God” as Webster defined the word “vote” in his original American Dictionary in 1828)! Don’t let someone else decide your children’s future. Go vote!!
Pray all day until the polls are all closed, pray that God-fearing people will go to the polls and vote Biblical values. Then, Pray earnestly that God will watch over the vote counting so the races are decidedly honestly. Lastly, pray for those who are praying today so that we don’t “grow weary in well doing.”
Yes, there is!
If you will listen to them and compare their statements to the Word of God, you can know how they think. This is why it is so important for us to daily read the Bible. As we “hide its words in [our] heart,” God’s thinking grows in us. Then, when we’re listening to or reading someone’s words an automatic comparison occurs that creates great discernment in us.
Also, if you can find someone you trust (who is a Biblical thinker) who knows the candidate personally, their discernment of that candidate can be very helpful.
One of the best ways to know what a candidate will do once in office is to read his responses to surveys presented to him by groups which work to protect the family. Family Policy Councils – in Kentucky, two great ones are the Family Foundation (votekentucky.us) and Commonwealth Policy Center (commonwealthpolicycenter.org) – ask the kinds of questions that reveal the true thinking of candidates. One “dead giveaway” that they are a bad candidate is if they won’t fill out the survey part that deals with the issues we face: things like abortion, homosexuals’ effort to redefine marriage, government providing things, and gambling. It’s my opinion that if they won’t fill out those surveys, they are hiding something they don’t want us to know; and once in office, they will support (or at least tolerate) the things the Bible is against.
Another of the very best ways to really know a candidate’s positions on issues is to find out, (if he’s previously served in office) how he’s voted before. Outside of spiritual discernment from the Lord, this is the very best method of exposing what candidates would do in office. We have many politicians who claim to be pro-life; but their vote against or refusal to work for Pro-life bills (like the “ultra-sound” bill in Kentucky) reveals who they really are. And they are very likely to repeat those stands (or the lack thereof!) on moral issues.
Let’s earnestly pray that God will get His people to the polls, and open the eyes of those who will vote on Tuesday to see the true character of candidates!
The Bible says the Word of God is “a discerner of… the intents of the hearts!”
Pass it on!
The Bible says in Exodus 18:21,
“Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers…”
The Scripture gives us the standard as to what government rulers are to be like. They are to “fear God” and be “men of truth.” They must respect God as Creator and be committed to the truth of the Scripture, as well as being truthful in their own heart. While they are to be “able men,” that is be competent in their government task, much more important is their character. Do they live a Godly life because they know they will stand before God and give an account to Him for their actions in office as well as in all other areas of life? This will cause them to spend as little of the people’s tax money as possible and to gladly expose the records of those expenditures.
Likewise, the people who vote must accept their responsibility before God to choose men who will meet these Biblical standards. Our Founders in America taught that we will always get the kind of people in office who reflect our character as a whole people. It is as William Penn said,
“Government, like clocks, go from the motion men give them…Let men be good, and the government cannot be bad…But if men be bad, let the government be ever so good, they will endeavor to warp and spoil it to their turn.”
(Pennsylvania, Frame of Government of. April 25, 1682, in the preface of his Frame of Government of Pennsylvania. A Collection of Charters and Other Public Acts Relating to the Province of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia: B. Franklin, 1740), pp. 10-12. Gary DeMar, God and Government – A Biblical and Historical Study (Atlanta, GA: American Vision Press, 1982), p. 115.)
If government is corrupt it is because we accept corruption. If government be moving us toward dictatorship, it is because we accept that willingly or ignorantly.
The truth is, in recent elections, 75% of Americans who say they are born again Christians haven’t even gone to the polls to vote! That’s 75 million people! Is it any wonder we’re about to loose the precious liberty God has entrusted to us?
Will you change that by going to the polls and voting for candidates who stand nearest to the Bible on issues? Pastor, will you urge your people to do this?
Remember, we all stand before God and give an account for if we voted, and how we voted!
When accusations are flying, don’t “miss the forest for the trees!”
Remember, satan is the “accuser of the brethren.” His aim is always to distract us from the real focus of the Lord for us in a given time. In the elections a lot of this is happening. In the Kentucky state elections, remember: Governor Steve Beshear’s main goal throughout his administration has been to bring casino gambling to this state. Thus, every elected state office is very important to him; he must create majorities in both Chambers of the Legislature in order to get his gambling bill passed. The Senate has been the stronghold against his agenda. Thus, he appoints Senate President, David Williams, long time foe and casino gambling opponent, to a judgeship to remove his opposition to casinos. The Governor only needs a few more votes in the Senate to gain his objective. Albert Robinson, former Senator and candidate for District 21 Senate seat (Laurel, Jackson, Estill, Powell, and Menifee counties), is a long-time opponent of casino gambling. Thus, the most vehement, well-funded campaign is being waged against him. Mistakes he made many years ago are being resurrected to distract the voter from realizing the real aim here—which is to gain casino gambling in Kentucky. The fact is, former Senator Robinson actually has one of the best voting records concerning family moral issues of any Legislator in the last 40 years in Kentucky. The man who may be the foremost spokesman for the family in our state told me personally that Albert Robinson was one of the very best Legislators in Frankfort, to help him with legislation to protect the family. So don’t look at one or two failures and overlook the numerous successes for the family in this candidate.
“Don’t miss the forest for the trees!” Let the Holy Spirit give you His overview so you don’t believe the “smokescreen” designed to keep you from seeing the real objective in these accusations; which, I believe, is to bring casinos to Kentucky.
