The attacks on Governor Matt Bevin here in Kentucky have been relentless: And for what? Because he is trying to fix Kentucky’s failing pension plan for state workers. Those attacks have come mostly from the Kentucky Education Association and their allies, the major media outlets here in the state. Why would they do this?

In the 2016 election, 39% of registered voters did not even go to the polls to vote. And Christians did no better than the national average: 40% of Evangelicals did not go to the polls. Think how this reveals the selfishness in us. Our lack of voting says, “We don’t care what kind of government our children have to live under.” And with that attitude, in time a dictator is certain to take over the government and force our children (and perhaps us) to live under cruel laws which will oppress all who disagree with him. Do we want to face God at the Judgment with that on our record? Think about it!

In June, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a twenty-eight year-old avowed socialist, won the Democratic nomination for New York’s 14th Congressional District. While fifty years ago a political candidate who would have so openly embraced socialism as his political philosophy would have spelled his doom, today it’s becoming much more accepted due to the multitude of Socialists professors in America’s universities. They teach our young adults from a socialist perspective, and many, if not most, of those young adults come to think socialistically. Now they are running for office—and some are winning!
