“The Real Aim of Socialism”

California is the state in this nation that probably has the most socialism at work in its state government.  To see the effect of such full-blown socialism you need look no further than Bill 2943 which passed both Houses of California’s legislature this year.  The bill would have outlawed the sale of any literature which offered hope that a homosexual could be set free from their sexual bondage.  Many were concerned that this would ultimately ban the sale of the Bible in California.  While God worked a miracle to stop the bill at the last moment from becoming law, this experience shows what the real aim of socialism is:  That is, the hindering of the flow of the truth of the Bible in a society.

The Real Aim of Socialism 1Anywhere socialism has gained control, ultimately the Bible becomes an outlawed book.  To keep people from hearing God’s plan for them has always been satan’s greatest desire, because,

“…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

If satan can keep people from hearing the teaching of the Scripture, he can keep them from turning to Christ.  That’s what the warfare in our nation about the teaching of the Word of God in public is all about.  Thus, the history of socialism in modern times is a history of the effort to bury the Bible.  Hitler did it in Nazi Germany; Stalin did it in Communist Russia; the Chinese Communist government is Continue reading

We’re hearing a great deal of talk about “socialism” in the political realm these days.  In a number of places around the country the Democratic Parties are electing socialist candidates.  And while the Republican Parties have not openly embraced socialism yet, many Republicans in government carry out their government duties in a socialistic way.  They take tax dollars from a citizen in one part of the country, and spend it for a project in another part of the country.  This is the redistribution of wealth by government mandate; which is one of the main tenets of Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto.  It is socialism.

America tried socialism in the 1600s.  The Pilgrims worked Continue reading

A lady from Argentina cries out to us in America and says,

“We pray you people of the United States stand up and hold on for we are counting on you to defend our freedom.”

(Answers in Genesis Newsletter; July 27, 2007)

Defending the Liberty of Others 1Does that not make you feel a great responsibility?  It certainly should!

While we go about enjoying our prosperous lifestyles the rest of the world longs for the opportunity to be able to compete in the market place without the interference of an oppressive government.  While we use our abundant free time for every conceivable pleasure known to man, the rest of the world only dreams of having a work day that didn’t last from daylight to dark every day.  While we use our freedom to frequent golf courses, ball games, and shopping malls, most people on earth long for enough freedom just to teach their children how to keep body and soul together.

Am I saying prosperity is wrong?  No!  Is liberty wrong?  No!  They are gifts from Almighty God.  But how Continue reading

I remember hearing someone say many years ago that the early Christians lived by socialistic principles in the way they took care of each other.  While that person may have been sincere, this is ignorance personified!  In Acts 2:44 the Bible does say that the early believers “…had all things common…”  But that in no way supports the idea that they operated as socialists.  The early followers of Jesus chose to share their belongings with the other believers.  They weren’t forced to do it by government mandate.  They weren’t taxed by government and then had redistributed to other believers their goods.  No!  Out of the love of the Lord Jesus, Who lived inside them, they chose to give to their brothers and sisters in Christ what they needed.  There’s a huge difference in those two ideas concerning how you meet the needs of the poor.

Socialism Defies Christianity 1Socialism and Christianity do not mix!  Karl Marx, the father of modern day socialism, knew this.  Concerning his goal to establish communism, he listed his first goal as being…

“To dethrone God…”

(Agenda: Grinding America Down, Curtis Bowers, 2010)

Socialism, and its ultimate goal, communism, will not mix with Christianity.  To try to mix them is like trying to mix oil and water.  You might stir them up together; but when everything settles they will have divided off into two completely different entities.  People who say they are Christians and want to mix socialism and Christianity either do not know the Lord at all, or they are so shallow in Him they know very little about how God thinks; which means they have never read very much of the Bible.

The socialistic principle of, “everybody getting free everything” goes Continue reading

What is Socialism 1In June, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a twenty-eight year-old avowed socialist, won the Democratic nomination for New York’s 14th Congressional District.  While fifty years ago a political candidate who would have so openly embraced socialism as his political philosophy would have spelled his doom, today it’s becoming much more accepted due to the multitude of Socialists professors in America’s universities.  They teach our young adults from a socialist perspective, and many, if not most, of those young adults come to think socialistically.  Now they are running for office—and some are winning!

Why is this upsurge in socialism occurring?  I believe it is mainly because we don’t understand what socialism really is.  satan has always worked in the darkness; and it is in this region of ignorance that tyranny begins.  So let’s TURN THE LIGHT ON SOCIALISM.  Let’s take a REAL look into it and its operations.

By definition, socialism “is Continue reading

Today we hear much about what is called the “Separation of Church and State”.  By that phrase is meant that the Bible, nor Christian ideas, have any right to influence government.  Groups such as the ACLU, who promote this idea, say that the First Amendment to the Constitution forbids Biblical ideas from influencing government.  But an honest study of the men who wrote the First Amendment will reveal just the opposite.

America’s Founders came from a long line of people who looked to God as the Source and Strength of their lives.  Prayer to them was as natural as breathing, and an absolute necessity in times of national crisis.  When the first major step toward war occurred, which was the blockading of Boston harbor, the first Continental Congress was then in session.  This gathering marked the first time the thirteen colonies had come together to discuss how to deal with the King of England’s tyranny over the American colonies.  Their very first act was to invite a minister to start their sessions with prayer and the reading of the Bible.

On September 7, 1774, John Adams wrote to his wife, Abigail, describing Continue reading

Do we Americans live in the land of the free; or the land of political slavery?  Political slavery, or socialism, means that the few who administer civil government tell the rest of us what to do.  To determine if we live in political slavery:

  • Ask a parent if they can spank their child without fear of the government removing the child from them;
  • Ask a school teacher if they can choose their own curriculum;
  • Ask a physician if they can choose the type of medicine, therapy, or hospital, by which they care for their patients;
  • Ask a business owner if he can operate without first consulting government as to his location, pay for employees, and tools he uses;
  • Ask a church if they can building a building, or parking lot, without first asking government about septic systems, phone taxes, employee taxes, fire prevention restrictions, etc.;
  • Ask an individual how long he works each year just to pay the government what he is taxed. Let me answer that one for you; in 2013 all Americans worked until April 18th just to pay local, state and national taxes—30% of their work year!!

President Ronald Reagan warned us,

“Government that is big enough to give you everything you want is more likely to simply take everything you’ve got.”

(Speech given at St. John’s University in New York, March 28, 1985)

When America’s Founders wrote and approved our Declaration of Independence they understood something most of us were never taught.  That is, only a people who walk by internal self-government are qualified to maintain external civil government.  Because they had been reared in the Biblical thinking of the Great Awakening, they understood than governing one’s self by the power of the Holy Spirit within was the only foundation of good civil government.  A people who are not controlled by their own principles of morality will have to be controlled by a large civil government.  And a large civil government means less liberty for the individual, the family, the church, and society as a whole.

Robert Winthrop, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in the mid-1800s, stated it precisely when he said,

“All societies of men must be governed in some way or other.  The less they have of stringent State Government, the more they must have of individual self-government.  The less they rely on public law or physical force, the more they must rely on private moral restraint. Continue reading

Why did the Pilgrims come to America with the hope of Jesus Christ ruling—through His followers—their educational, economic, and governmental systems?  They came with that hope because they knew that RESURRECTED CHRIST personally!  This had come through “…the diligence of some Godly preachers…” by whose preaching “…their ignorance and sins [had been] discovered unto them…”  They had repented of their “ignorance and sins” and had received Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Thus, the power of the Resurrected Christ flowed in them.

But, as they studied the Scripture, they found that this Resurrection life of Christ wanted to flow not only in their personal lives, but through their lives out into their local communities.  They didn’t buy satan’s lie that Christianity must stay in the home and the church.  Matthew Henry, the great Puritan preacher, revealed their thinking when he Continue reading

One of the men who helped to found our nation, but is almost completely unknown today, was Noah Webster.  He wrote our first dictionary, a work of twenty years in the making, which he published in 1828.  He published his Blue Backed Speller, which sold millions of copies over the following 100 years.  It was an entire learning course compacted into a small book, which the pioneers used to educate their children.  In 1832 he published his History of the United States and included a “brief exposition of the U.S. Constitution” because he wanted young people to know early that our nation was a republic, not a democracy; and that our Founders got the ideas for its purpose, structure, and spirit of operation from the Bible.  Keep in mind that when he uses the term republican, he’s not talking about a political party, but rather a particular form of government.

He stated it this way:

“The brief exposition of the constitution of the United States, will unfold to young persons the principles of republican government; and it is the sincere desire of the writer that our citizens should early understand that the genuine source of correct republican principles is the Bible, particularly the New Testament…”

(Webster, Noah. History of the United States (New Haven: Durrie & Peck, 1832), pp. 273-274, 300, paragraph 578 | Verna M. Hall, The Christian History of the American Revolution (San Francisco: Foundation for American Christian Education, 1976), p. 10.)
