The last time America had a move of God that was nationwide was over 150 years ago. Since that time the growing darkness of secularism, founded in Americans gradually believing the lie that we are god—and that the life that has our name attached to it is ours—has brought more and more darkness to us. It definitely looks like we are going to destroy ourselves.

Is there any hope for our nation? There definitely is! And His Name is Jesus Christ! But we will never make our nation a candidate for His deliverance until we, as a majority of individuals in this land, surrender these lives completely to Him. That would bring the awareness of His Presence to us in such a real way that we could hear His voice again. That would let us work with Him in the revival he wants to give to us. Perhaps you’re thinking, “That can’t happen in these last days”, or “Wrong is too much in control, we can’t turn it back now.” These are favorite statements of the spirit of unbelief that walks this land. But neither the “last days” nor the growing darkness can keep the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, from doing anything here that He chooses. God made man “in His image” to look like Him in spirit.  He made man “in His likeness” to look like Him in his soul; that is, in his mind, his will, and his emotions:  And He made man to rule over earth, as God rules in heaven and in earth.

But we, as mankind chose to rebel against God’s plan for us.  We refused God’s offer of Covenant with Him; which means the “meeting of minds”.  We wanted to think our own thoughts and act in whatever way we chose.

But God never gave up on His dream of man being a vessel of His life.  He continued to offer restoration to that Covenant for any man who chose to agree with Him again.  But people must forever come to God the same way:  By admitting He was right, they were wrong, and that only the shed blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, could “…[take] away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29)

In March of 1863, Abraham Lincoln issued a call for the Union to repent before God; that call is so appropriate for today that I wanted to share it with you. May God help us to hear this with our heart!

“Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation.

And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? Amos’ Call To Repentance

The message of judgment for sins has always been unpopular with those who want to run their own lives.  It still is.  But the fact remains:  No matter how much we try to put off or forget judgment, it will still occur, right on schedule—both in this world and the next. Judgment for rebellion is no pleasant thought when the Judge is a just God who keeps a very detailed, specific record of every thought and every action we’ve ever known.  The prophet Amos warned the northern kingdom of Israel that impending doom was near.  He had cried out,

“Woe to them that are at ease in Zion…that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock…That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music…That drink wine in bowls, and…are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive…The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself…therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein…For, behold, the LORD …will smite the great house with breaches…for ye have turned judgment into gall…behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you…”

(Amos 6: 1-14)

But Israel scoffed at Amos’ words.  In spite of increasing disease and frightful storms, the nation still didn’t really think these were “the beginning of sorrows”.  They thought “somebody will get a handle on this economy…someone will come up with a cure for this rampant disease.”  (Sounds like our sexually transmitted diseases, like AIDS, doesn’t it?)  “After all,” they said Continue reading →

“Rediscovering God As Judge”

Well known Christian leader, Kevin Swanson, tells how he once listened for three days to a “positive” Christian radio network without hearing any mention of judgment of any kind.  Not even once in three days!  This stripping of the Biblical teaching concerning judgment has now given us three generations that have no idea of the consequences of sin in this earth, much less in eternity. And yet the Bible is filled with references to God being judge.  Notice,

Deuteronomy 32:36

“…the LORD…cometh to judge the earth: He shall judge…the people with His truth.”

Psalm 96:13

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

2 Corinthians 5:10

Jesus said,

“He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My words…the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

At twenty-three years of age, shortly after I had been led to a full surrender to Christ, I was introduced to a book which would shape my thinking to this present day.  The book was entitled, Why Revival Tarries.  It was written by an Englishman, Leonard Ravenhill; a man who practiced what he preached, and shaped a generation with a fresh vision of what it meant to be Christian; and especially what it meant to be called to preach in the Name of Christ.  Here is what this voice from God had to say.  Ravenhill wrote:

“…But where are the Elijahs of God?  We know Elijah was “a man of like passions as we are,” (from James 5:17) but, alas, we are not men of like prayer as he was!  One praying man stands as a majority with God!  Today God is bypassing men — not because they are too ignorant, but because they are too self-sufficient.  Brethren, our abilities are our handicaps…!

“There Is No ‘Trans’-Gender”

We are hearing a lot about what is termed, “Transgenderism” these days.  Some say it’s an option.  Some say it’s a choice.  Some say it’s a right.  The Bible teaches it is sin!!  Most who promote the idea of “transgenderism” are also the people who push the murder of a child in the womb as being a “choice”—choice of death for the baby!  Isn’t it interesting how satan loves to give sins a more acceptable name so that they will be more readily accepted by the masses.  Let’s consider why what is called “transgenderism” is sin.

There is No Trans1For starters, it is not logical:  Not in origin, not in practice.  No matter what kind of surgery you have on the body, you cannot change the genes.  We are internally what God made us to be, either a male or a female.  This cannot be changed.  Change on the outside does not change what is inside, in the genes or internal organs.  Neither can we change the way we go about doing things.  All established order in this earth recognizes a male “approach” to things and a female “approach” to things.  Thus, you can be a “transvestite” (meaning you can dress like the opposite sex) but you cannot be “transgendered”.

The arguments continue over whether a wall should be built along our Southwest border to keep out people who are not willing to meet the qualifications our Congress has set for people to enter the United States.  Those who want the Wall believe a nation needs well defined borders.  Those who do not want a wall believe there should be no borders between nations.  I’m still wondering how you define what is a nation if you don’t have borders.  I hear opinions being expressed by most everyone.  But I rarely hear anyone addressing this issue from the Biblical perspective.  What does God say about the boundaries of nations?  Since God created nations (Acts 17:26) you’d think He’d have some definite things to teach us about nations.  Indeed He does:  If we’d only be quiet and listen instead of believing that our thoughts deserve to be heard more than anyone else’s!

God tells us about nations’ borders in Deuteronomy 32:8.  The Bible says,

“When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds [or boundaries] of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.”

God gives to nations boundaries, therefore, the boundaries should be respected as a moral issue as well as a geographical issue.  Shouldn’t we be Continue reading →

Few things have caused as much controversy in American politics as the President’s effort to build a wall along our southwestern border.  Some claim the idea is contrary to the message proclaimed by our Statue of Liberty:  “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”  But are they right?  How can America be a refuge for the hurting of the world if we do not maintain the liberty which makes this nation their hope?  How can we help them if we let in people whose ideas are diametrically opposed to the Biblically-based ideas which made America the freest, most prosperous nation on earth?

Some would say, “Does that mean only Biblically thinking people can come here?  How can they ever learn our ideas if they aren’t here, where they can learn them?”  We’re not the first generation of Americans to face that issue.  In the founding of America it was decided who could be a citizen here and who couldn’t be.  The basic concept was Continue reading →

The media is in an uproar over President Trump’s desire to build a wall on the Mexican border to stop illegal immigration there.  Not that the media being in an uproar against what’s right is anything new.  But many are questioning if his desire to stop illegal immigration is right.  Like most things that socialistic thinking gets wrong, they’re wrong on this too.  They say a “Wall” won’t work.  If they really believe that, why do most of their leaders live in “gated communities”?  Think About It.

Because a nation can only be as strong as it is within its own borders, you can’t help other nations in the world until you are strong at home.  Those who expect America to take care of the world either are uninformed as to how God teaches us to help others, or they reject the Bible as their standard for such benevolence.  Just as the Bible says that “Jesus began to do and teach,” so we cannot share with the world what we are not ourselves.  “Doing” always precedes “teaching”.  A tree cannot extend its branches any farther than its root system equals underground, or the whole tree will topple.  American strength has been flowing away for years because we’ve tried to join the world “globalism” movement and compromised so many of our historic convictions in order to be “part of the crowd”.  One of the major principles of “globalism” is that there can be no borders between nations (On that thought, wonder how they expect to Continue reading →
