Which is Supreme- Gods Law or Mans- 1

It almost seemed that Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear was targeting conservative Kentucky churches with his warning to not meet together last Sunday; a Sunday where they especially celebrate the Resurrection of Christ.  He threatened them with a 14-day quarantine if they met inside their buildings.  His stated reason was the prevention of the spread of the China virus that has impacted parts of America in a serious way.  But it’s interesting that he did not apply that threat to Kentucky’s abortion clinic; and certainly that hideous act of murder cannot be performed unless those involved are close enough to spread the virus.  At any rate, Kentucky State Police were at church parking lots gathering license plate numbers from vehicles, to be turned over to the County Health departments so their agents could visit the homes of those vehicle owners to make certain they were confined to their home.

Without even touching how Kentucky State Police were possibly violating the Fourth Amendment of the National Constitution—which protects citizens on private property from “unreasonable searches”—this is a huge encroachment into religious liberty rights.  Our Founders in America (and Kentucky’s Founders) included in the very First Amendment the guarantee of the right to ‘freely exercise’ your religion.  And while that guarantees all religions the right to function; it was specifically designed to protect the rights of Christians to freely exercise their religion because it was the principles of the Protestant Christian religion which were the foundation of the Republic which our Founders created.  Governor Beshear has set himself opposite to the Constitutions and to the Bible.  And as Kentuckians, we should thank those faithful people of God who have continued to meet, deliberately disobeying the Governor’s edict.

The President’s approach of “recommending” ways to help check the spread of the virus is very different from Governor Beshear’s “proclamations” about it.  The President’s approach says that he trusts us as individuals to do the right thing by our neighbor and keep a safe distance.  Governor Beshear’s approach of giving out edicts and enforcing those edicts with state workers, says we are children who haven’t yet learned to respect our neighbor, and thus, under the threat of punishment, must be made to discipline ourselves so as to not harm our neighbor.  This is a classic example of the difference in the elitist philosophy of socialistic government, and the “all men are created equal” philosophy of Biblical civil government.

Which is Supreme- Gods Law or Mans- 2But you may be thinking:  “Aren’t we to obey the laws of the land?”  That’s a general statement that has just enough truth in it to be dangerous!  I’ll save that for a longer discussion.  For now, the Bible does not teach that we have to obey laws which disagree with the Scripture.  On two occasions in three years, Jesus attacked the business racket in the temple in which animals for sacrifices were sold; both times Jesus was violating religious and civil law!  But, He was abiding by the command of God, which stated,

“My house shall be called the house of prayer…” (Matthew 21:13)

Those churches which are continuing to meet say that the Governor of Kentucky is trying to force them to disobey the Scriptural command which says:

“…not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…” (Hebrews 10:25)

I have to agree with them.  But you…

Think about it; because if you don’t, someone else will do your thinking for you—and for your children!  And you won’t like what that brings to you.  I’m Don Pinson; this has been Think About It.
