We have just witnessed perhaps the hardest fought campaign in the history of Presidential elections. And, at the time of this writing, the winner has still not been legally declared. So what do we, who are committed to Jesus Christ, do now? Number one, we continue to pray: More on that in a moment. Secondly, we learn the hard lesson—and admit it—that we have to change the way we are educating our children. The fact that socialists (which means, God-hating) people can come so close to taking over our government should drive us all to our knees, crying out to God to show us why we’ve let liberty come so close to extinction—to show us why our children are turning to socialism!
The answer to the second question is quite simple. When you look at the map of the nation and see which counties voted for more conservative candidates and which counties voted for socialist candidates, you find that, generally speaking, the densely populated areas voted for socialists, while the less densely populated areas voted for conservatives. Why do the densely populated areas vote for socialists? It is because these cities are where the universities are located. It is the universities that are the hotbed of socialism! God teaches us that He has given to man a system by which his physical and material needs can be met. It’s quite simple, but very, very effective. God releases into us at the moment of conception certain abilities which, if we follow His leading, He will later direct into a calling through which our needs will be met. A surgeon gets thinking and motor skills which will enable him to remove harmful things and reset body tissue so that God’s natural healing can take place. An automobile mechanic gets the understanding in his mind and skill in his hands by which to diagnose and repair your vehicle. God then intends for us to be taught by parents, pastors, and other teachers how to work with those skills to better the lives of others. They, in turn, pay us for our services, which betters our lives. God’s Kingdom gets advanced in both parties because each realizes that God’s way works; which encourages faith in God’s Word and His calling in other areas of life.
In 1857-58 God came in revival in this nation in a remarkable way. A businessman named Jeremiah Lanphier started a noonday prayer meeting in New York City. Within a month, hundreds were praying at noon and it began to spread across the region. Some prayer meetings at noon sprang up without knowing of the New York prayer meetings. God began to move across the nation bringing hope to many who had become hopeless. The church had become so weak it couldn’t even decide if slavery was right or wrong. And whenever the Church leaves the Scripture as its standard society always goes downhill. We can always tell the strength of the Church by how much its influence controls the institutions of education, business, and civil government. Jesus said,
