Today we hear much about what is called the “separation of church and state”.  By that phrase is meant that the Bible, nor Christian ideas, have any right to influence government.  Groups such as the ACLU, who promote this idea, say that the First Amendment to the Constitution forbids Biblical ideas from influencing government.  But an honest study of the men who wrote the First Amendment will reveal just the opposite.

Religious Acts of Our Government1America’s Founders came from a long line of people who looked to God as the Source and Strength of their lives.  Prayer to them was as natural as breathing and an absolute necessity in times of national crisis.  When the first major step toward war occurred, which was the blockading of Boston harbor, the first Continental Congress was then in session.  This gathering marked the first time the thirteen colonies had come together to discuss how to deal with the King of England’s tyranny over the American colonies.  Their very first act was to invite a minister to start their sessions with prayer and the reading of the Bible.  On September 7, 1774, John Adams wrote to his wife, Abigail, describing the effects of the prayer.  He wrote: Continue reading

On April 19, 1775, seventy-five American Farmers faced an overwhelming force of some 600 British professional soldiers.  The Americans were out-manned, out-gunned, and out-trained.  And when the first shots were fired, nine of the Americans fell dead.  Why were they willing to face such overwhelming odds?  Were they dreamers?  Were they crazy?  Were they men of such noble ideas they were willing to die for them?  While they were all these things (except crazy) they had an even greater reason for resisting the King of England.  They believed they were obeying the God of the Bible with their resistance.  Their Congress had stated,

Why Did Americans Fight for Independence1“Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian…duty of each individual ….Continue steadfast, and with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us.”

(Massachusetts Provincial Congress. 1774, in a resolution. George Bancroft, Bancroft’s History of the United States, Vol. 1-X (Boston: Charles C. Little & James Brown, 3rd Edition, 1838) Vol. VII, p. 229. Peter Marshall and David Manuel, The Glory of America (Bloomington, MN: Garborg’s Heart’N Home, Inc., 1991), 8.31.)

When our ancestors defended themselves on Lexington Green, and later much more successfully at Concord Bridge, they believed they were walking in a principle of liberty taught in the Bible. Continue reading

“Jesus’ Redemption: The Foundation of Civil Government”

With the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus we naturally think of Christ’s redemption for us personally:  How His shed blood washes away our sin and guilt, and how His resurrected life makes possible that we can actually be what He created us to be.  The wonder of this cannot be fully described, but it can be fully experienced!

However, as we mature in Christ once we’ve received Him as our Lord, His life within us desires to flow in an outwardly direction.  And if we allow Him to do that to its farthest extent, His resurrected life will shape the institutions of the culture so that those Jesus Redemption-The Foundation of Civil Government1institutions will become vessels through which His truth can flow to the next generation.  The institution of civil government will then protect, by law, the right of the truth of Christ’s kingdom to flow to the next generation.  America’s Founders understood that this was civil government’s responsibility.  They never envisioned the government being hostile to the church.  Any honest individual who researches their writings will reach that conclusion.

Founding Father and Sixth President, John Quincy Adams, made plain the connection between Christianity and our nation’s liberties when he stated:

“Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the Progress of the Gospel…? Continue reading

What would your church do if the parents of a lesbian daughter asked you to perform her funeral—AND—insisted a picture be showed of her kissing her lesbian partner?  According to writer, Bryan Fischer, this has already happened to a church in Colorado.  The Gender Agenda vs The Church1What if they threatened to sue the church if it didn’t perform the funeral?  What would your church leadership do?

These are the exact kinds of choices we’re heading for in this land.  David Gibbs, President of the Christian Law Association in America, warns us that the homosexuals have an agenda to take control of the media, of business, of civil government, and of the church, in order to force acceptance of their lifestyle on us.  They’ve gained so much control of the media, business, and civil government, that they are now invading the church’s territory, insisting it bow to an all-powerful, socialist form of government.

Since the Obama Administration pushed through Congress the so-called “Hate Crimes” law in November of 2009, government power is being used more and more to threaten the worship and mission of the church in America.  The “Gender Agenda” is flexing its government muscle and attacking the Biblical definition of marriage.  Now they are advancing into the church in order to silence its moral voice in our nation.  Satan’s real aim in all this is to stop the teaching of the Gospel of Christ to the next generation.  He is simply using the homosexual movement to achieve his goal. Do we Americans live in the land of the free; or the land of political slavery?  Political slavery, or socialism, means that the few who administer civil government tell the rest of us what to do.  To determine if we live in political slavery:

Are We Slaves of Socialism1Ask a parent if they can spank their child without fear of the government removing the child from them.

Ask a school teacher if they can choose their own curriculum.

Ask a physician if they can choose the type of medicine, therapy, or hospital, by which they care for their patients.

Ask a business owner if he can operate without first consulting government as to his location, pay for employees, and tools he uses.

Ask a church if they can build a building or parking lot without first asking government about septic systems, phone taxes, employee taxes, fire prevention restrictions.

Ask an individual how long he works each year just to pay the government what he is taxed.  Let me answer that one for you; in 2013 all Americans worked until April 18th just to pay local, state and national taxes—30% of their work year!!

President Ronald Reagan warned us, Continue reading

Why Submit to Islam1January 7th was the deadly shooting in the Charlie Hebdo newspaper office in Paris.  On January 11th over a million people gathered in Paris to protest the Muslim philosophy that those who refuse to bow to allah must be killed.  Heads of state from a number of countries marched alongside the French President, including Israel’s and Germany’s leaders.  However, Mr. Obama was not there.  Neither did he send the Vice-President or even Secretary of State, Kerry.  This is a huge dishonor to those who have been our allies and suffered a terrible tragedy at the hands of Muslims who intend to live out the Koran.  Why does this man refuse to acknowledge that terrorism is almost always tied to the Muslim religion?  While he has steadfastly refused to acknowledge the importance of Biblical Christianity to our nation’s liberty, he has, at the same time, worked to cast in the very best light the Muslim faith.

Please consider his track record: Continue reading

A journalist by the name of Heine, warned in the 1830’s what would happen in Germany if Christians did not stand strong in their walk and work of the Gospel of Christ.  He warned:

We, the People, Must Preserve Marriage1“Christianity – and that is [Germany’s] greatest merit – has somewhat mitigated that brutal Germanic love of war… Should that subduing… [cross] be shattered, the frenzied madness of the ancient warriors … will once more burst into flame.

“This [cross] is fragile, and the day will come when it will collapse miserably… (Remember, he’s saying this 100 years before Hitler’s rise to power) Then the ancient stony gods will rise…and smash the…cathedrals.”

(The History of Religion and Philosophy in Germany, 1834)

Heine also warned:

“Where they burn books, they will also burn people.”

We now see the burning of books in the academic realm as Biblical ideas are more and more shut out of that realm. Continue reading

Since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against marriage in the summer of 2013, we’ve seen many of the State Marriage Amendments, which defined marriage as being between a man and a woman only, declared unconstitutional by national courts.  These rulings not only ignore the right of the people within their states to define marriage, they fly in the face of Biblical moral law which defines marriage as being between a man and a woman only.  These judges “fear not God, nor regard man” (Luke 18:4).

Will Governors Preserve Marriage1So what do we do when we have a disordered national court system?  We must do what the Bible teaches by the principle of interposition:  We must appeal to our state governments to come “in between” our national government and the people.  This is what Jehoida, the Priest, Daniel, and Queen Esther did to fix disordered government.  We must fervently urge our state Governors, who have full authority to stop this attack on marriage, to do so.  Not only do they have full Constitutional authority to stop this overthrow of state law, they have a responsibility to do so!  They have taken an oath to uphold both their state Constitutions and the national Constitution.  It is their duty to stop these renegade judges!

Maybe you’re asking where we get this idea.  When Peter and James were told by the government authorities of their day to speak no more in Jesus’ Name, they spoke this principle when they stated, Continue reading

It was November 11, 1620.  After 66 days at sea, with over half that time in violent storms, they were more than ready to get off the ship.  The Mayflower had just dropped anchor inside Cape Cod Bay.  They had been blown off course by the storm and deposited here, much farther north than they had intended.  But they came to believe that the storm was the Lord’s way to get them to settle in this place.

The Government of the PilgrimsThese Pilgrims (as they called themselves) had come to America to have the freedom to teach their children the Bible; and to them that meant much more than teaching them how to be born again.  It included teaching to their children reading, writing, and all the other academic subjects.  Their Pastor, John Robinson, had taught them how to establish from the Bible the institutions of education, government, and economy.  These Pilgrims were Christians who believed the Bible was true and that its teachings could be lived out in this present world.  Thus, they were intent on creating a community, which agreed that their children would be taught the Bible and all the academic subjects from the principles of the Bible, and that also agreed on establishing a Biblical economy to fund that teaching, as well as a Biblical government to protect that education and economic system so they could accomplish the Pilgrim vision.  Continue reading

“The Choice: Vote or Be Enslaved”

A very important election is close at hand.  Next Tuesday, choices will be made by voters that will affect the future of our nation for generations to come.  Are you prepared to vote?

The truth is, only 32 million—of the over 100 million people who say they’re born-again—voted in the last election.  Most of these are sincere people who are trying to live as God wants them to live.  Why then do they not go to the polls and vote?  I’m glad you asked.

The Choice- Vote or Be EnslavedUp until 1900 the Christian population of America controlled the outcome of elections.  No candidate could be elected who did not acknowledge God’s place in the history of our nation.  Actually they had to go further than that.  In their speeches and writings, they had to acknowledge that Jesus Christ was God’s Son, and that the Bible was the best book to live by in this world.  Had a candidate for political office in the 1800’s stated that he believed abortion was a woman’s choice he would have ended his political career then and there.  If a candidate had stated that homosexuality was just a different way of family life he would have sealed his political doom.  What changed?  Why are we in the political slime which has politicians scampering for a way to appeal to homosexual voters?  Why are most government servants no longer statesmen?  Continue reading
