Ladies and Gentlemen: The following is why Jesus was born in a stable.

“Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it [satisfies] us.  Jesus saith unto him…Philip…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father…Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”

(John 14:8-10)

Jesus came, as the Second Man (1 Corinthians 15:47) to demonstrate for us how God had intended us to live.  He wanted to live through us in this present world.  But a new work was needed.

“Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him…and…he bearing his cross went forth into a place…which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two others with him…”

(John 19:16-18)

Jesus came to pay the debt of “one perfect life” which we, as mankind, owed to God for our “theft-sin” in the Garden of Eden; and to also put to death that selfish man that we became because of our rebellion against God.  The Bible says, in Romans 6:6,

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”

Jesus’ work now gave us a cleansed “temple” into which the life of God could come—if Jesus could overcome death.  At the end of His suffering on the Cross that black day, Jesus cried out and said,

“It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”

(John 19:30)

Jesus entered into death; satan’s strongest ground in that day.  Could He come out?  Could He conquer death?!  The Bible tells us in Luke 24:

“Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre…And they found the stone rolled away…and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.  And…behold, two men stood by them in shining garments…and they said to them, ‘Why seek ye the living among the dead?  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you…Saying, “The Son of man must be crucified, and the third day rise again.”’  And they remembered his words…”

(Luke 24:1-8)

Indeed, He had risen!  But could He get inside believers so as to fulfill the Father’s purpose for making man; could He live through man in this world?  In the last resurrection appearance He made to them, He told them of His plan to do this: He said,

“…wait for the promise of the Father….For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”

(Acts 1: 4-5)

Some ten days later He would show up again—inside them!  The Bible says,

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind…And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

(Acts 2:1-4)

And their witnessing brought 3,000 people to God through Christ that day…Acts 2 says,

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized…And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart…And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

(Acts 2:1-4; 41-47)

Jesus was born in a stable in order to accomplish our redemption; so He can live His life through us, who are believers, in any circumstances!
