Kentucky has failed, for the 9th straight year to get any pro-life legislation through our state Legislature.  However, other states have made significant strides toward stopping the murderous practice.  Arkansas has limited most abortions after twelve weeks with a new law this session.  North Dakota went even further; they limited abortions as early as six weeks.  This will save thousands of innocent lives in the next few years.  Kansas sent a mixed signal saying in a new law that life begins at “fertilization,” but then it stated that this was not intended to trump U.S. Supreme Court decisions on this issue, thus taking away the greatest impact the law could have had.

My son and I recently discussed how to stop abortion.  We agreed that we are missing God’s greatest blessing by thinking that we can only ban abortion by first “slowing” it down.

While we are certainly in favor of any law that saves the life of even one innocent child in the womb, I believe we’ve let the humanists dictate to us how to fight this war.  We’ve bought into the lie that there won’t be enough support for such a radical approach as banning all abortions with one law.  But when we take this approach we’re missing it on two counts.

One, it’s illogical.  If we treated cancer with surgery to only remove part of the diseased tissue, how many more patients would die?  How much harder would it be to gain support for cancer research?

But secondly, and much more importantly, we loose the greatest blessing which God would like to give us in this battle.  God can move even His enemies to be at peace with Him!  But we can’t expect Him to do miracles to get the votes needed to stop abortion if we don’t take His position on the issue.  The Bible teaches plainly that only when we obey all the will of God do we get all the blessing of God.  Deuteronomy 28 forcefully states:

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God…to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”

(Deuteronomy 28:1-2)

If we want God’s blessing in the fight to save all life, then we must stand with Him in all His position concerning the murderous practice of abortion.  His position is simple: Life begins at conception; and “Thou shalt not kill.” (Exodus 20:13).  It is that simple!

Thus, to stop abortion, our legislation must say: All life begins at conception; the taking of any life after that point is murder – And we already have laws which punish murder.  When we draft laws of this nature, then, we can expect God to work in our states to stop this heathen, murderous practice of abortion.  Otherwise, we’re working with only His limited blessing.

When some of our Founders at the Constitutional Convention thought we should soften the radical approach of creating a totally new government, because they thought there wouldn’t be citizens enough to approve it, George Washington spoke great wisdom when he stated,

“If to please the people, we offer what we ourselves disapprove, how can we afterward defend our work?  Let us raise a standard to which the wise and the honest can [come]; the event is in the Hand of God!”

Shouldn’t we offer God’s solution for abortion; and trust the result to Him?
